A complete surprise. I admit that this city took me by complete surprise. I did not know what to expect and when I got there I was shocked by the beautiful arquitecture, the lively streets and the most wonderful people ever! Wished I could have stayed there longer... I guess I'll just have to come back someday :)

Apanhada de surpresa. Admito que esta cidade me apanhou completamente de surpresa. Sinceramente antes de ir não sabia muito bem o que esperar e quando cheguei fiquei chocada com a arquitectura maravilhosa, as ruas cheias de vida e as pessoas super simpáticas! Gostava de ter ficado mais tempo... sempre é uma desculpa para poder voltar :)

Day 18.

Travel day + Afternoon in Budapest

Dia de viagem + Tarde em Budapeste

We got to Budapest by lunch time and therefore we had the time to explore the city in the afternoon... We stayed at Pal's Apartments and I really recommend it: our apartment was in a beautiful old building in the square of St. Stephen's Basilica and two or three blocks away from the river! Great nightlife there as well.

Chegámos a Budapeste à hora de almoço e portanto ainda tivémos tempo de explorar a cidade à tarde... Ficámos num hostel chamado Pal's Apartments e recomendo por completo: o nosso apartamento era num edifício antigo lindo com as janelas a abrirem para a praça onde é a Basílica de Santo Estevão e a dois ou três quarteirões do rio! Óptima vida nocturna também.

Day 19.

First day in Budapest

Primeiro dia em Budapeste

This day we took a boat trip in the river (that only costed 7€, really advise it!), from which we saw various big touristic sites: the Chain Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, a church built in the rock, the great market hall and the Parliament, amongst others. In the afternoon we did some shopping - iei! :)

Neste dia démos um passeio de barco no rio (que só custou 7€, aconselho vivamente!), no qual vimos várias pontos turísticos: a Ponte de Correntes, a Estátua da Liberdade, uma igreja escavada em rocha, o mercado central e o Parlamento, entre outros. À tarde fomos às compras - iei! :)

It was very very hot, so this fan sprayed water on the customers! || Estava muito muito quente, por isso estas ventoinhas espalhavam água pelos clientes.

Day 20.

Second day in Budapest

Segundo dia em Budapeste

We spent this day at the Szechenyi thermal baths... Unfortunately we didn't bring our camera with us, but I'm telling you: an outside pool with water at 38ºC is a must see! By night we went for a walk to see the Fisherman's bastion and the Mattias Church... enjoy the pictures!

Passámos este dia nos banhos termais Szechenyi... Infelizmente não levámos a câmara connosco, mas garanto-vos: uma piscina exterior com água a 38ºC é uma paragem obrigatória! À noite demos um passeio para ver o Bastião dos pescadores a Igreja Matias... espero que gostem das fotografias!

A hedgehog in the middle of the city! || Um ouriço cacheiro no meio da cidade!

Travel | Wien, Austria

Peaceful. This is the best way to describe the city of Wien. Even thought it is Austria's capital, it's just so calm and peaceful: the people are nice, the streets are clean, the noises are quite... Except for the beautiful classic music that can be heard everywhere!

Tranquila. Para mim é a melhor maneira de descrever a cidade de Viena. Ainda que seja a capital austríaca, é tão calma e tranquila: as pessoas são simpáticas, as ruas estão limpas e os sons são raros... Excepto pela maravilhosa música clássica que se ouve em todo o lado!

Just another day travelling... Who would say Europe is so big after all? I wouldn't before this trip, for sure - I know better now.

Outro dia em viagens... Quem diria que a Europa afinal é tão grande? Antes desta viagem, eu não - agora já sei.

Day 15.

First day in Wien

Primeiro dia em Viena

During this day we visited the imperial part of the city. We walked though Karntnerstrasse, Wien's main street, and ended up in the beautiful St. Stephen's cathedral: it's a must see and it's free. Really cool to see the colour difference between where it had already been cleaned and where the polution darkened it! Do yourself a favour and while you are in the neighbourhood eat a Sachertorte, a delicious tradicional cake. We finished the day by visiting the Haufburg Palace, namely the Imperial Silver Collection, the Sisi Museum and the Royal Apartments. 

Durante este dia visitámos a parte imperial da cidade. Andámos na Karntnerstrasse, rua principal de Viena, a qual desemboca na praça da maravilhosa Catedral de São Estevão: é uma paragem obrigatória e é grátis. Foi muito interessante ver a diferença de cor na catedral entre o que já tinha sido limpo e aquilo que a poluição na cidade fez à estrutura! Façam um favor a vocês próprios, caso alguma vez lá vão, e comam uma Sachertorte, um delicioso bolo tradicional. Acabámos o dia com uma visita ao Palácio Haufburg, que consiste na Colecção de Pratas Imperial, no Museu Sisi e nos Apartamentos Imperiais.

Day 16.

Second day in Wien

Segundo dia em Viena

Basically we slept in... But in the night we went out to see a classical music concert, with dancers and an opera singer: it's a Wien's must! You could fill the day with a visit to the Imperial treasure and the famous art museum, the Kunsthistorisches Museum.

Basicamente dormimos para recuperar energias... Mas à noite saímos para assistir a um concerto de música clássica, com bailarinos e uma cantora de ópera: um must de Viena! Podem encher o dia com uma visita ao Tesouro Imperial e ao famoso museu de arte, o Museu Kunsthistorisches.

Day 17.

Third day in Wien

Terceiro dia em Viena

We got up early and headed out to the amusement park where the Wien's Madame Tussaud's is - couldn't help but to let out our inner child before and rode in the roller coaster and the shock carts (you can see my big smile after that in the picture!). The museum in itself in great: much better than the London one, in my opinion, because there is much less people so you can really enjoy the whole experience more. Finished the days in the beautiful Schonbrunn Palace and gardens, the perfect way to say goodbye to Wien!

Levantámo-nos cedo para nos dirigir ao parque de diversões onde é o Madame Tussaud's de Viena - e não resistimos a sermos crianças por uns minutos e andar na montanha russa e nos carrinhos de choque (podem ver a minha cara de felicidade a seguir na fotografia abaixo!). O museu em si é, na minha opinião, melhor que o de Londres já que tem muito menos pessoas e por isso permite-nos desfrutar de facto da experiência. Acabámos o dia no Palácio de Schonbrunn e nos seus jardins, a maneira perfeita de nos despedir-mos de Viena!
