Outfit | The Disney Princesses Series - Mulan

The warrior. Mulan is the personification of a modern area girl: one who can fight for herself and what she believes in. I mean, she was the first princess (correct me if I'm wrong!) who actually saved her prince instead of the other way around... I love that Disney is showing more and more to young girls that they can fight for themselfs: I mean, from being asleep and woken up with true-love's kiss to saving China and getting the guy is a big jump, don't you think?! The outfit is inspired by her military costume, with the military vibed jacket and harsh boots, but also incorporates her delicate side with the skirt and the red lips... And of course, her faithfull Mushu whispering in her ear!

A guerreira. A Mulan é a personificação da rapariga da era moderna: uma que batalha por si própria e por aquilo em que acredita. Afinal de contas, foi ela a primeira princesa (corrijam-me se estiver errada!) que salvou o seu príncipe em vez de acontecer o contrário... Adoro que a Disney tenha começado a mostrar às meninas que podem lutar por elas próprias: desde esperar que o beijo do verdadeiro amor nos acordo até salvar a China e ficar com o rapaz vai uma grande diferença, não acham?! Este conjunto é inspirado pelo traje militar da Mulan, com o casaco de inspiração militar e as botas pesadas, mas também incorpora o seu lado mais delicado com a saia e o batom vermelho... E claro, o seu fiel Mushu a ditar-lhe conselhos ao ouvido!

Personal | Making of today's photoshoot

Those of you you follow me on Facebook (those who don't, why not follow here? Pretty please?) were aware that today I did a photoshoot with the amazing Jéssica Silva. I had already worked with her for my shoot with Fashion in a Box and in her Bloggers in the Morning project... So I was more than thrilled when she asked me to this yet again! Here are a few photos from the making off - enjoy them! - and I'll show you the final photos as soon as I have them!

Outfits | The Disney Princesses Series - Pocahontas

The wise one. For me, Pocahontas has always been a symbol of wisdom more than anything else. In the movie, everyone always says how she is "wise beyond her hears"... And they are right, after all she is way more tolerant than any adult in the story and that is what I really look up to her for. So, for this outfit, I chose very serene earthy colours, that also reflect her love for mother nature. Every item has a meaning: the shirt reminds me of indian capes, with its big batt sleeves; the nude heels are the closest I could get to being bare footed; the bag is recycled material, which I think she would aprove if she lived today; and of course the turquoise necklace is there to resemble the one she so much loved in the movie.

P.S.: Please note these outfits are supposed to be inspired by the princesses and not costumes! You weren't expecting to see me in a mini dress and a red arm tatoo, were you?

A sábia. Para mim, a Pocahontas sempre foi um símbolo de sabedoria mais do que tudo. No filme, realçam várias vezes que a sua sabedoria não corresponde à sua idade... E têm razão, porque ela conseguiu ser mais  tolerante que qualquer dos adultos e é por isso que mais a admiro. Assim, para este conjunto, decidi manter-me serena e terrestre, também para reflectir o seu amor pela natureza. Cada peça tem um significado especial: a camisola lembra-me as capas índias, com as suas mangas largas; os saltos nude foram o mais parecido possível a estar descalça; a carteira é de material reciclado, o que a nossa querida princesa aprovaria de certeza se vivesse hoje; e claro, o colar turquesa é para evocar aquele de que ela tanto gosta no filme.

P.S.: Estes conjuntos são inspirados pelas princesas e não fatos de Carnaval! Não estavam à espera de me ver de mini vestido com franjas e uma tatuagem vermelha no braço, pois não?
