Travel | Interailing - Rome, Italy

Walking through history. That's how I felt walking in the streets of Rome: like I was walking in a real-life history book. It concentrates so many different periods in the same space... it's fantastic. It also felt extra special since it was the very last stop after a whole month of interailing!

Caminhar pela história. Foi assim que me senti enquanto passeava pelas ruas de Roma: como se estivesse num livro de história. Concentra tantas épocas no mesmo espaço... É fantástico. E foi ainda mais especial por ter sido a nossa última paragem depois de um mês de interail!

Day 26.

First day in Rome

Primeiro dia em Roma

Day entirely dedicated to ancient Rome. We visited the Colosseum, the Imperial Forum, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill... I loved seeing everything, it is truly amazing how structures that are over 2000 years old are still standing today! On our way to the ancient area we took a look at Vittorio Emanuel II monument, that was really close to our apartment. Afterwards we also walked to Bocca della Verita.

Day 27.

Second day in Rome

Segundo dia em Roma

A lot of walking though Rome... We started out the morning by visiting the Pantheon, which was one of my favourite sites. The little opening in the dome looks so tiny but actually is 9 meters long in diameter, how cool is that?! I find it amazing that all those years ago people already had the engineering habillities to do such a thing. Afterwards we stopped on a little church which we came across and I tell you: do enter in every single church you see in Rome! Outside it looked really trivial but inside it was one of the most beautiful churchs I have ever seen - you can see the pictures for yourself down in this page. We then went to the Capitolines Museums, which were amazing. We were fortunate enough to see the temporary exibition "Secret archieves of the Vatican", which was simply fantastic. In the permanent exibition I particularly liked the Capitoline Wolf and the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. After all of this we still found time to look around Rome's piazzas, namely: Piazza del Campidoglio, Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia and Piazza di Spagna. We finished off the day at Fontana di Trevi, and of course threw a coin over our left shoulder - tradition says if you do so you will return to Rome someday!

Day 28.

Third day in Rome

Terceiro dia em Roma

This day we spent at Vatican City... there's just so much to see! We went early so we wouldn't have to wait in line too long. When we went in I couldn't believe my eyes: everything is just so rich. There's the best way to describe it: you don't even know if you should look at the rooms in itself or to the things exposed in them. My personal favourites were The School of Athens by Rafael and of course Michaelangelo's paitings in the Sistine Chapel. Afterwards we went to St. Peter's Basilica and saw the basilica in itself, which is fantastic, and also the Swiss Guard and Michaelangelo's Pietà. We finished the day by taking a look at St. Angelo's Castle, which is a short walk from the basilica. At night we went out for pizza to celebrate our last  night in Rome and in Europe!

Day 29.

Coming back home

Volta a casa

After a whole month wondering through Europe by ourselfs, I must admit that it felt extremely weird to come home. I packed all my things in my backpack, as I had already done so many times before in order to move city... but this time the next city was a special one: Lisbon! After an early wake-up time and a flight that seemed to take forever, we finally arrived to our dear Lisbon and to our loved-ones. Behind we left a whole month of wonderful memories and an Europe, the good-old-continent, that I promise will see much more of me in the future!

Travel | Interailing - Florence, Italy

Second home. This is how I felt while I was in Florence: at home. I loved everything about this city and could definitely see myself living there... There is something about Italy that just does it for me. The sun, the streets, the nice people, the fashion (of course!): it's perfect. P.S.: I'm sorry it took so long for me to post the remaining pictures from my interail. Anyway, they're here and later today I'll post the last ones: Rome.

Segunda casa. Foi assim que me senti em Florença: como se estivesse em casa. Adorei tudo acerca desta cidade e consigo imaginar-me a viver lá um dia... Aliás, há qualquer coisa em toda a Itália que me atrai. O sol, as ruas, a simpatia das gentes, a moda (claro!): é tudo perfeito. P.S.: Desulpem ter demorado tanto tempo a colocar as restantes fotografias do meu interail. O que importo é que já cá estão e mais logo porei as da minha última paragem: Roma.

Day 23.

First day in Florence

Second day in Florença

This day was all about getting to know Florence in itself: we basically wondered through the city. Mandatory stops were the Ponte Vecchio, filled with little jewelers, and of course the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, better know as Firenze's Duomo. I'm telling you, it is the most spectacular construction I have ever seen in my life... The insides are very simple and even a bit dissapointing, but the outside is just breathtaking! If you ever get the chance don't hesitate going there.

Este dia foi reservado ao conhecimento de Florença propriamente dita: basicamente vagueámos pelas ruas da cidade. Paragens obrigatórias foram a Ponte Vecchio, repleta de pequenas joalharias, e claro a Basilica de Santa Maria das Flores mais conhecida como o Duomo de Florença. Digo-vos, é a construcção mais espectacular que vi na minha vida... Os interiores são muito simples e até um pouco desapontantes, mas o exterior é de cortar a respiração! Se alguma vez tiverem a possibilidade de lá ir não hesitem!

Segundo dia em Florença

Me and my boyfriend got up really early because we (it was more like me, he was just a darling to come along!) wanted to go to the Galleria dell'Accademia really badly to see Michaelangelo's masterpiece: the statue of David. I was not dissapointed in any kind: the statue is gigantic and trully amazing - in the photos you can see a replica of it that is sitting where th original used to be. Since we had so little time in this city we passed the Galleria degli Uffizi, but I heard it is amazing as well. We were done by 10.00 AM so we decided to go on a little shopping spree before lunch... amazing stores, I tell you! In the afternoon we went to  the city's belvedere on a hill top, where you get a real postcard view from the city: simply amazing. More things I have to tell you? Go ahead and make yourself the favour of eating as many ice-creams and pizzas as you can, they are all delicious!

Eu e o meu namorado levantámo-nos muito cedo porque queríamos (foi mais eu queria, mas ele foi um amor e fez-me companhia) ir à Galleria dell'Accademia para ver a obra prima de Miguel Ângelo: a estátua de David. Não fiquei minimamente desapontada: a estátua é gigantesca e verdadeiramente espectacular - nas fotografias abaixo podem ver uma réplica da mesma que está hoje onde o original costumava estar. Como tinhamos tão pouco tempo na cidade passámos a Galleria degli Uffizi, mas penso que também vale muito a pena. Como ficámos despachados do museu ainda nem eram 10 da manhã, demos uma volta pelas lojas... óptimas, digo-vos! À tarde fomos até ao miradouro da cidade que se situa no topo de uma colina: custa a chegar mas depois vale a pena. Que mais vos posso dizer? Façam um favor a vocês próprios e comam todo o gelado e piza que conseguirem, é sempre delicioso!

Magic light. Here it is: the last set of photos from this week's photoshoot. These were taken right at sunset, which is one of my favourite times to photograph: the light is just so beautiful and warm. The setting is just another plus - there's nothing better than sunset at the beach. As for the outfit, I went for something really neutral and basic to go with the surrounding colours... I felt amazing, and looking at these shots I think that is reflected in them, don't you?! Tell me what you think! P.S.: I'm sorry about the overload of portraits, but I love them all and couldn't choose.

Luz mágica. Aqui está o último conjunto de fotografias da sessão que fiz esta semana. Foram tiradas  mesmo ao pôr-do-sol, que é uma das minhas alturas preferidas para fotografar: a luz é tão bonita e quente. E o cenário só faz com que goste ainda mais delas - não há nada melhor que pôr-do-sol na praia. Quanto ao conjunto, optei por algo muito simples e neutro que se encaixasse com o meio envolvente... E gostei muito do resultado! Senti-me lindamente e acho que isso se reflecte nas fotografias, não concordam?? Digam de vossa justiça! P.S.: Desculpem o excesso de retratos, mas adoro-os a todos e não consegui escolher!

Contrasts. There are so many things I am crazy about in this photoshoot: some of them I can not even put my finger on it, but others are very well defined. I love the contrast between the rich colours and soft colours - in this set of photos the deep blue of the skirt against the surroundings. I love the way movement is captured. And I love how all of the photos, expressions, outfits and settings are able to create a kind of lost-in-my-own-little-world mood. Do you agree? Any favourite photos? Let me know!

Contrastes. Há tantas coisas que adoro nesta sessão: algumas nem consigo precisar bem mas outras são bem definidas. Adoro o contraste entre as cores fortes e os tons neutros - neste caso o azul rico da saia e o ambiente que a envolve. Adoro a maneira como o movimento é capturado. E adoro como todas as fotografias, expressões, conjuntos e locais ajudam a criar uma aura estou-perdida-no-meu-mundo. Concordam? Alguma fotografia favorita? Digam-me nos comentários!

Interruption. A little interruption from The Disney Princesses Series to show you the result of the photoshoot I did earlier this week (you can see the making of here if you're interested!). The photographer was the very talented Jéssica Silva and the make up artist was Vicki Marie, a reader of the blog who is just staring out her but is already so goof! This first look was very casual with just a tiny bit of glamour from the deep red lips. Do you like it? Is there a picture you're particularly fond of? Interrupção. Vou ter que fazer uma pequena interrupção à minha Série de Princessas Disney para vos mostrar o resultado final da sessão que fiz no início da semana (já viram as fotografias do making of aqui?!). A fotógrafa foi a talentosa Jéssica Silva e a maquilhagem esteve a cargo da Vicki Marie, uma leitora aqui do blogue que está a começar mas que vale já a pena espreitar! Este primeiro conjunto foi bem casual, apenas com um toque mais exótico dado pelos lábios vermelhos. Gostam? Têm alguma fotografia preferida?
